Sir John Townsley, Executive principal of The GORSE Academies Trust
Elliott Hudson College will change the face of education for thousands of students as they move into Post-16 education across our city. We are immensely proud of our vision which seeks to ensure that this college successfully prepares able and hardworking students who are ambitious for the future for attendance at some of the best universities in the world.
We know that there will be many more applications for a place at Elliott Hudson College than will be available. We also know that should you be successful in taking forward an application to join us, you will be developed and challenged as a student at a level which is far beyond that which you have experienced so far in your educational journey.
We expect all of our students to be seeking to achieve the very highest grades at Advanced Level study and to be using the knowledge and expertise established in their time with us to become undergraduates or higher level apprentices of the very highest calibre.
Central also to this aim will be the importance of all that Elliott Hudson has to offer outside the classroom. Our Progression Tutors, for example, will work intensively with all students in a bespoke and truly personalised manner, to support them in realising their aspirations. Added to this whatever your choice of learning you will have access through us, to working with some of the top employers in the country including KPMG, O2, Leeds Healthcare Trust and The Hepworth Gallery.
Rest assured, life at Elliott Hudson will not all be about studying. Our College Union is of great importance in shaping the social values within which our college functions and offers all students the opportunity to develop new skills and experiences whilst enjoying a vibrant social and enrichment network. At Elliott Hudson we expect all of our students to work with great dedication but also to know how to enjoy all of the fun that life has to offer.
It may well be that you have struggled in your secondary education so far or that your own school experience has not been a positive one. Through little or no fault of your own you may well be disappointed by the GCSE results that you are expecting to achieve. If you are talented, hardworking and serious about learning and achievement and have a hope to go onto a top university or higher level apprenticeship then we want to hear from you. Of course, we know that many of you will be securing amazing results at GCSE and be already confident of your excellent standing as a student in your own right. We want to hear from you too.
Some students are not ready for a change of scene at sixteen but we know that many are, especially if that change is designed to establish new heights of ambition and achievement.
So, if you like what you see and feel that your ambition matches ours, then we would love to hear from you. It could prove to be one of the most important decisions that you ever make.
Sir John Townsley
