Students may not be able to access pastoral support in the normal way in any of the following events:
- Self-isolation or social distancing
- Partial college closure
- Full college closure
The college is committed to supporting students in all aspects of their health and wellbeing and therefore the following systems have been developed.
Not fit to work/Attendance
This means that a student is unable to complete the work that has been set due to illness. If this is the case, then an email should be sent to: [email protected]
Students do not need to email individual teachers as information will be shared with them as it is reported.
Students should send an email each day that they are not fit for work, and then an email on the day on which they feel able to attempt work again.
If a student is not able to report an illness, parents/carers can do this on their behalf using the address above, clearly stating:
- Name of student
- Reason why they are not fit to work
During any self-isolation or in the event of a partial or full college closure, please be reassured that a student’s attendance figure will not be negatively affected.
Wellbeing and safeguarding
Even though staff and/or students are working from home, the college will be able to support students with their wellbeing or if there are any safeguarding concerns.
If a student is worried or concerned about their health or wellbeing, they should email: [email protected]
Any concerns will be passed onto the safeguarding team who will then make contact with students as quickly as possible to make sure that students get the support that they need.
As with any safeguarding concerns, if students feel that they are at significant risk and in need of immediate support, they must call 999 without delay.
There will be a number of other services that students will be able to access and they can be found at the following page on our website: https://www.elliotthudsoncollege.ac.uk/student-life/health-and-wellbeing/
Financial support
There is uncertainty in how the impacts of COVID-19 and the government measures put into place may impact individual students and households within our communities.
The college is able to provide financial support to those students in receipt of the 16-19 Bursary and/or those in receipt of free school meals.
If a student falls into either of these categories and is not currently receiving any financial support, please email: [email protected]
If students and/or their households find themselves in times of financial crisis, they should contact [email protected] as the college may be able to provide some level of support.
