EHC Students were excited to be invited to an exclusive event where four leading professionals shared how Artificial Intelligence (AI) was transforming industries, careers, and the skills employers were looking for. The event was open to all students, with a focus on those interested in going into tech, business, or leadership.

The event was designed to inspire & inform our students about the impact of AI on careers and the skills required to thrive in such a rapidly evolving world. The talk was open to all students from both year groups, particularly students studying Computer Science, ICT, and Digital Media. The event was organised by Ahead Partnership, whose mission is to connect young people to opportunities and help them overcome barriers so that they can achieve their full potential. We wish to thank them for the opportunity to help our students explore the world of AI in the workplace.

Students learned how AI is shaping the world of work, and how to AI could be used to boost their college journey and help them stand out. They saw how AI is changing various aspects of jobs, from interviews to leadership, explored emerging careers, and looked at real-world applications of AI in the workplace. Students were also able to listen to personal stories from professionals on their start to their careers, offering them practical advice and motivation for their next steps.

Four speakers from different areas of work delivered talks on how AI impact their area. Shirley Stackhouse, the founder of Stackhouse Leadership & a former Vice President of AI Risk detection, discussed how AI is reshaping leadership and risk. Jay Heller, a Software Engineer at Create Future, talked about how he went from student to cloud-certified engineer, and the impact of AI on upcoming developers. Ben Aspill from Axiologik revealed why communication and soft skills were just as vital as tech skills in AI-driven careers. Finally, Claire Wilkin, a Senior Manager for Retail Technology at Curry’s, explored how AI is revolutionising customer service, coding, and career development.

Students left the event more confident about navigating the evolving world of word in technology. Remai in Year 13 told us that “The talk was useful for my subjects, especially for learning more about coding and technology. I learnt more about how to use technical and non-technical terms to help people understand more about AI”. He also said he learnt a lot from Claire from Currys, and how AI can be used to support teaching non-specialists. Clare Lucas, Assistant Principal and Careers Leader, said of the event: “From startups to global tech, our speakers showed that AI isn’t just transforming systems, it’s redefining leadership, careers, and the skills that matter most”.
