Here at Elliott Hudson, we work very closely with our trust and partner schools building relationships with colleagues and pupils to ensure a smooth transition from high school to post 16. On a recent visit to one of our partner schools we were reunited with one of our former students Megan-Louise Cook.

Megan was part of the first cohort of students here at Elliott Hudson from 2015. Having studied Art and Design, ICT, History and Psychology she attended Plymouth College of Art and gained a first-class honours degree in Game Arts.

Following graduation in 2020 she moved back home to Leeds to look for roles in the creative industries. During her job search she was made aware of a Kickstart Arts Assistant role at Cockburn John Charles Academy in Leeds. The position was initially for 6 months assisting the Drama and Art department. This soon progressed into something more similar to an Art Teacher and Assistant Drama Technician to support the large number of performances taking place.

“When I joined Cockburn John Charles I was told that a lot of people had applied so I was thrilled to secure the position. I have really enjoyed every opportunity I have been given so far in my role and particularly proud of the work I did for the school music In the Heights where I created the set and operated the lights for each show.”

After the success of the school musical she helped support, Megan was offered to stay on full time by continuing to work in the Drama and Art department. She has also taken on a role as a Reading Mentor, helping small groups of students improve their reading abilities which she has been doing since just before Christmas.

Mr Cave taught Megan whilst at Elliott Hudson:

“Megan was in our first cohort of students at EHC and it is pleasure to hear that she is now involved in education, supporting students in Art.”
Mr Cave, Elliott Hudson Subject Leader and Teacher.

Megan’s colleagues from Cockburn John Charles are really supportive of the work she does in the school and have been so pleased with the commitment she has shown in her role:

“Megan has made a real impact in her time at the school. She has been flexible and adapted to ever changing demands using her creative flare and enthusiasm to the full. We are so happy to now have her with us full time.”
