As National Careers Week kicks off this week we also getting very excited about our very own careers event Destinations Week taking place later this month from Monday 22 March, following the parents’ event on Monday 15 March. Targeted at our year 12 students, the event aims to give our students the opportunity to explore their options for post-18.
Like many events over the past year, a major part of this year’s Destinations Week will be held online, giving us the opportunity to pack even more information, support and guidance into our programme.
Our teachers and careers staff are all involved in making this the best event yet and are busy preparing for a range of Destination Week specific lessons and tutorials. New this year is our online platform available in Microsoft Teams which will give students access to a range of resources, talks and videos.
“Rather than being a limitation, the new world of remote learning has opened up a whole range of possibilities that our students would not have access to in previous years. For instance, the virtual work experiences that we encourage students to participate in now include companies from further afield who are offering valuable opportunities we would not previously have had.
Our annual Destinations Week is a key part of the college calendar and every year we work closely with our colleagues from Higher Education Institutions, employers and apprenticeship providers to ensure our students have all they need to make an informed choice. This is an immersive week as students will be gaining information and advice during every lesson, tutorial and assembly. We have lots of exciting activities planned from our alumni video calling in, live Q&As from university academics and apprenticeship providers and much more.”

We recognise that this has been a challenging time for our students in recent months and we hope that our Destination Week programme will offer them a time to reflect on their career aspirations and plan for their future.
