As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Elliott Hudson College is proud to celebrate the achievements of alumni who have gone on to build successful careers through apprenticeships across a wide range of industries. Their stories highlight the power of apprenticeships as a high-quality, aspirational route into professional employment, offering real-world experience, qualifications, and long-term career progression.

From finance and professional services to digital marketing and the civil service, EHC alumni are thriving in apprenticeships that have opened doors to rewarding and meaningful careers.

“I wasn’t picky, I went for everything available and thought I’d see where it would take me. I had 8 interviews and 7 of them offered me job – I thought I must be doing something right!” Evie decided to take up an opportunity with Ascensor Digital Agency and spotted areas in the company she could develop almost immediately. “I presented to the management team an area I thought I could develop, there was a huge opportunity missed via social media, I presented my vision and they gave me the freedom to run with it.”

She secured a Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship with Ascensor Digital Agency, quickly making her mark by identifying and leading new social media opportunities within the business. Evie is now an Influencer & Affiliates Manager at GymKing.

But these movements turned out to be valuable learning experiences, exposing Zoe to different aspects of local government work. After completing the apprenticeship, she made a strategic shift to adult social care, seeking new challenges and a better fit.

That willingness to adapt eventually opened the door to a new role with the Ministry of Justice, where Zoe has now worked for eight months. “It’s a position I’m really enjoying. There’s a lot of variety in the work, which keeps things interesting and provides great opportunities for development.” As a civil servant, she’s found a renewed sense of purpose, contributing to the public sector in meaningful ways.

The decision to pursue a Level 7 apprenticeship wasn’t without challenges. “It wasn’t an easy task by any means,” Brendon admits. “I applied for multiple firms and faced a tough process with each, online assessments, in-person group interviews, and final partner interviews.”

Despite the hurdles, his hard work paid off when he secured a coveted apprenticeship with a Big 4 accounting firm. “I’m incredibly appreciative of the opportunity. I believe more should be made available; they’re an excellent way to enter the professional world.”

Now an Executive in Transaction Diligence at EY, Brandon’s journey demonstrates how apprenticeships can rival – and in many cases surpass – traditional routes into elite professions.
