Enrichment round up
We believe that enrichment activities are an important part of a student’s education and wellbeing. They provide opportunities for young people to try new things, meet new people and develop soft skills that will be transferable for future careers.
Our students participated in a regional heat of the Bar Mock Trial competition. They were given cases to prepare and present; they had to prepare opening and closing statements, question witnesses and make objections.
Students have been meeting as part of their Wednesday afternoon enrichment, to prepare their cases, practice their questioning skills and prepare to undergo questioning of witnesses.
A new enrichment for this year, Animal Care, tailored towards the students’ interests, helping them to develop their knowledge of animals and their needs – whether they want to know more about animal care, would like to develop this as a career, or for those who just love furry friends.
If you are interested in a future career in healthcare or medicine, then are pre-professional medicine or healthcare enrichment will give you everything you need to know about your future career. This year we had a midwifery session from the University of Bradford and a healthcare pathways talk from EHC alumni.
As well as Live Music Wednesdays, are students were able to select a student-led Musical Theatre enrichment activity in term one, which saw students putting on a “Night at the Musicals” show with numbers from a wide range of musical theatre productions, including Rent, Jersey Boys, Grease, Six and more.
British Library Project
The British Library approached Elliott Hudson College to help them with an exciting new project. The library is regenerating the Temple Works site in Holbeck, South Leeds with a view to opening a visitor centre. This is a Grade I listed building which is part of the regeneration of Leeds South Bank.
Dungeons and Dragons
Each year Elliott Hudson College develops new and exciting enrichment programmes that help develop our student soft skills. In previous years are enrichments have included EHC Voice Student Podcast, Duke of Edinburgh and Mental Health First Aid.
