Over the last academic year, a number of Elliott Hudson students took part in the IntoUniversity Big City Bright Future programme, which included an insight day into the Business world in London. Following this visit, 4 Elliott Hudson Y13s were successful in gaining a place on an internship organised by IntoUniversity. These internships took place in London over three weeks and students were paid for their experiences – including accommodation and travel!

  • Reshma Jairam worked at BlackRock
  • Cody McCarthy worked at Alliance Bernstein
  • Aleesha Ahmed worked at Royal Bank of Canada
  • Brogan Townley Parker worked at Simmons & Simmons

Reshma agreed to be a case study for IntoUniversity and had this to say about her experience:

“I think everyone should take the opportunity to apply for the BCBF internship, if they don’t then they’re missing out on something huge!”

“One of the best things about the placement was that when we were working within the BlackRock team, everyone accepted us and we were recognised as being very much part of the team and were welcomed into it. The team integrated us in meetings, treated us as equals and respected our ideas.”

“The IntoUniversity prep sessions really helped me to nurture my application and also get me ready for the internship itself. Many people have even made contacts to go back to BlackRock after university!”

“My placement at BlackRock allowed me to discover a new side to who I am as it gave me exposure and pulled me out of my comfort zone in so many different ways which I really enjoyed.  It was an amazing opportunity that I’ll always remember!”

Jenny Fairfax, who is one of the IntoUniversity advisors working with Elliott Hudson had this to say about our students:

I have worked with the students from Elliott Hudson College since October 2018. I have been overwhelmed by their commitment to IntoUniversity and their resilience and determination throughout the rigorous Big City Bright Future application process”

“The opportunity to work and live in London, as well as earning £1200 for the internship, is an absolutely incredible experience for these students that they will be able to talk about in future job applications and interviews.”

“They are an absolute credit to Elliott Hudson College and have been a pleasure to work with I look forward to working with more EHC students on next year’s placement!”

Current Y13s – be sure to keep an eye out for this internship as it will be being advertised in college soon!
