Elliott Hudson College proudly hosted a special “Meet the Author” event featuring EHC alumnus, Fatim Fofana, who self-published her debut novel “Carry On,” last year. Held to in celebration of World Book Day, the event was an inspiring occasion for students and book lovers alike.

Students were invited to attend the event to hear Fatim read excerpts from “Carry On”, share her journey from a college student to a published author, and discuss the creative process behind her writing. A book signing session followed, giving student a chance to meet Fatim in person and get their copies of “Carry On” autographed.

She described her novel as “a contemporary teen/young adult romance book. It was inspired by my own personal experiences along with other books that I’d read before. The main themes of my story are friendship, love (platonic & romantic), crime and law, found family, loss, betrayal and the silent battles with mental health that many of us endure.”

“We were thrilled to welcome Fatim back to Elliott Hudson College,” said Miss Binns, EHC Literacy Leader. “Her success is a testament to the talent and determination of our students. This event was not only a celebration of Fatim’s achievements but also an inspiration for our current students to pursue their passions.”

The book is a remarkable accomplishment, especially considering it was self-published just last year, demonstrating to students the importance of pursuing enrichment activities outside of their studies. Fatim’s return to Elliott Hudson College was a full-circle moment, highlighting the supportive and nurturing environment that the college provides for budding writers and creatives.
