This year 35 of our year 12 and 13 students have successfully completed a qualification in mental health first aid. The qualification is a Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health from the FAA accredited by Ofqual. The course was offered as part of this year’s Wednesday afternoon enrichment programme and was delivered over two days on consecutive weeks for 2 hours per week.

The course covered the following subjects:

• What is First Aid for Mental Health?
• Identifying mental health conditions.
• Providing advice and starting a conversation.
• Stress and anxiety.

The students who took part have found this an extremely valuable experience and something they will use beyond their time here at Elliott Hudson College:
