This was the final event within the Fast Trackers Engineering Programme, a programme organised through the NCOP project and industry partners Network Rail and Mott MacDonald. 8 Elliott Hudson Students have attended an Engineering Taster Day at the University of Huddersfield, a behind the scenes look at Leeds Train Station and this regional final at the University of Bradford. On completion of this programme, each student will receive a Silver Industrial Cadet accreditation.
Students were set a challenge to design a new Euston Station with a high speed rail link with Birmingham. The Elliott Hudson College team worked brilliantly together to research, produce and present their ideas in response to the complex requirements of the brief. Every student contributed to the 10-minute presentation and spoke with confidence, and the judges said that we only narrowly missed out on a place at the national final – coming second overall! 2 of our students were even recognised for individual awards (Best Leader and Best Speaker) out of all the students that attended as the industry experts felt that they really stood out!
Overall it was a fantastic day and the Elliott Hudson team did themselves and college proud!
