Ellie Milner and Carys Miller pitched to a panel of advertising industry experts and were awarded the top prize for ‘Best Campaign’.
On Wednesday 12th December, we travelled to the British Motor Museum to the Rise Up Awards hosted by MyKindaFuture. The Rise Up Awards give students the opportunity to network with professionals from the advertising industry and seek guidance on producing a campaign of their own. This year a live brief was provided to students; ‘to market Jaguar Land Rover to a female audience’, a current gap in the industry.
Media students took part in a workshop in October with marketing professionals from the multinational advertising agency, Dentsu Aegis, to get them started on how to approach a new campaign idea. Some worked independently to submit an entry in November and Carys and Ellie were then shortlisted from over 70 submissions! Finalists had 3 minutes to pitch their campaign idea to a panel of industry experts;
Rhidian Taylor – National Communications and Channel Planning Manager, Jaguar Land Rover
Ajoy Roy-Chowdhury – Agency Lead EMEA, Facebook
Rachel Martinelli – Chief Operating Officer, MyKindaFuture
11 teams pitched in the finals and the competition was tough; there were lots of well prepared and professional students with fantastic ideas but the judges believed in Carys and Ellie’s concept of ‘Do it with Jaguar’, awarding them with the top prize.
In Summer 2019 Ellie and Carys will visit Dentsu Aegis for a week of work experience and help make their campaign come to life!
Ellie “Yesterday was a good opportunity to develop our presentation and public speaking skills as well as to get a better insight into the industry. We were glad that our hard work paid off – I really believe we deserved it!”
Carys “Yesterday was a good opportunity as we were able to see ideas from other colleges and schools. When we presented our pitch we felt confident about our own idea but seeing other people’s presentations made me nervous about the outcome. During the ceremony I was shocked to find out that our team had won!”
