On 17 February, our year 12 Tourism students enjoyed a talk from Dr Simon Woodward, principal lecturer at Leeds Beckett University. Organised by subject leader Mrs Barker, the talk was arranged in place of a taster day trip to Leeds Beckett University campus which had to unfortunately be cancelled due to Covid.
The talk took place remotely over teams and students were initially given an overview of the UK tourism industry. Dr Woodward then focussed on the exciting growth of film tourism in Britain including Samuel L Jackson’s recent visit to Leeds to film for ‘Marvel Secret Invasion’.
“It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to hear from an expert in his field. The students particularly enjoyed what he had to say about film tourism in this country which sparked a great deal of interest and conversation following the talk.”
